Description
LETR is a joint project of the Solicitors Regulation Authority (SRA), the Bar Standards Board (BSB) and ILEX Professional Standards (IPS). It constitutes a fundamental, evidence-based review of education and training requirements across regulated and non-regulated legal services in England and Wales. The legal services sector is experiencing an unprecedented degree of change. LETR is required to ensure that the future system of legal education and training will be effective and efficient in preparing legal service providers to meet the needs of consumers. Final recommendations will be made in December 2012. It will be for each regulator subsequently to set out a process for addressing recommendations in the report, and to consult formally on any proposed changes.
This website is hosted by the independent research team that is conducting this phase of the Review.
Discussion Paper 2012/02 (Key Issues II: Developing the Detail) contains a discussion of the role of ethics and values in legal education - see in particular, pages 29-31, at http://letr.org.uk/wp-content/uploads/2012/08/Discussion-Paper-02_2012fi...
