Privacy Policy

This policy sets out how the Forum website uses and protects personal information of people registered to the website. We are established and based in the USA, and the following provisions also comply with EU and UK data protection laws. If you have any objection to your personal data being handled in anyway described below, please do not submit any information to us.
Please note that if you choose not to submit personal details, you will have limited access to the Forum website.


What information do we collect?
When you register on the Forum website you need to enter your name, email address, phone number, country, and reason for joining the website (referred to as "personal information"). You will also need to choose a username and password. You can also submit additional optional information to your profile, including your homepage URL, job title, C.V., and publications list (referred to as "optional information"). Please note that all "personal information," a username, and a password are mandatory. You cannot use the service without first submitting these. Your username, name, address, and any "optional information" submitted can be viewed by other registered users, but not by visitors to the site who have not registered. All other "personal information" can only be viewed by the Site Administrator.


What do we do with the information we collect?
We will use your personal information to administer your registration and to help with the investigation and resolution of any legal issues that should arise. We reserve the right to disclose the identity of users to any third parties who claim copyright infringement (moral or IPR rights). We reserve the right to disclose any illegal activities to the relevant authorities. We respond to any subpoenas, court orders or legal process, and we respond to legitimate requests by authorities with whose requests we must comply. We will not transfer, disclose, sell, distribute or lease your personal information unless required to by law or we have your permission.


How can a user get copies of the information we've collected?
You may request copies of the information we hold on you. If you would like to request this please email the Site Administrator at admin@teachinglegalethics.org. If you think any information we may have on you is incorrect or incomplete, you may change it by editing your user profile on the Forum website, or by deleting it entirely. If you are unable to do this, please contact admin@teachinglegalethics.org. Once your personal information has been deleted your account will be deactivated and removed from our registration database in approximately 90 days. Any information we have copied may remain in back-up storage during this period, even though no information remains in our active user databases. After that period it will be deleted.


Security of Data
We are committed to ensuring that your personal information is secure. In order to prevent unauthorised access or disclosure we have put in place suitable physical, electronic and managerial procedures to safeguard and secure the information we collect on-line.


Linking
We, or third parties, may link to other websites. These are not within our control and we cannot be held responsible for the protection or privacy of any information you submit there. It is best to check the privacy statement of that site should you have any concerns.
