Abstract
The Bar Standards Board (BSB)(https://www.barstandardsboard.org.uk/) regulates barristers called to the Bar of England & Wales in the interest of the public. The BSB sets the education and training requirements for becoming a barrister; sets continuing training requirements to ensure that barristers' skills are maintained throughout their careers; sets standards of conduct for barristers; monitors the service provided by barristers to assure quality and handles complaints against barristers taking disciplinary or other action where appropriate.
The Code of Conduct provides the requirements for practice as a barrister and the rules and standards of conduct applicable to barristers in England & Wales. There exists distinct codes of conduct for barristers in Scotland (where they are known as advocates) and Northern Ireland respectively.
