Abstract
In 1974, the American Bar Association amended the accreditation standards for law schools by mandating instruction in "the duties and responsibilities of the legal profession." Legal educators and law students, however, continue to ask whether professional responsibility belongs in the curriculum and, if it does, what form instruction should take. This article does not purport to defend the mandatory requirement explicitly; rather it provides an overview of what a conscious, integrated, and comprehensive program of instruction in professional responsibility can accomplish.
