Conference Description
The Third International Legal Ethics Conference built on the foundations set by its predecessors in 2004 and 2006. Under the umbrella theme of Integrity in Legal Practice, it provided an opportunity to take stock of both achievements and failings in the international legal ethics project to date, explore current questions about lawyers' ethical responsibilities, and anticipate and discuss aspects of lawyers' likely ethical challenges into the future
The conference was designed to cater for both scholars and legal practitioners, with a designated "practitioners’ day" which included papers, presentations and discussions of particular relevance to practising lawyers. The conference themes embraced international perspectives, and provided delegates from Australia and abroad with opportunities to hear and share ideas and arguments that have implications for "lawyering" across jurisdictions.
The conference brochure and program, as posted prior to the conference, are attached as well as a seven-page report on the conference published in Legal Ethics.
